Yesterday, I voted no on the Financial Services and State Department Funding Bill. Here’s why:
There’s a lot going on: ICE agents are abusing our communities and the nation is at the brink of more forever-wars.
None of this is leaving folks in San Antonio or the country better off. We need to focus on making healthcare affordable.

I am introducing legislation with @repgregstanton.bsky.social and @sarajacobs.house.gov to block taxpayer dollars from being used to fund military force in Mexico—one of our closest allies and trading partners—without the consent of Congress and the American people.
Going to war with Mexico risks destabilizing the region, mass migration, human rights abuses, and wastes our taxpayer dollars.

We have a choice to make: support hardworking families in America or spend billions—if not trillions—in Venezuela to make Trump and his cronies richer.

I received an intelligence briefing on Trump’s plan for “running” Venezuela. It sounded like it came from ChatGPT.

"They have turned [ICE] into a rogue organization. And I've said it before: I think that it should be disbanded."

Venezuela oil money is "going to end up in a slush fund for Donald Trump.”
Rep. Joaquin Castro joined @mehdirhasan.bsky.social to discuss the absurdity of Trump controlling Venezuela’s oil revenues and pretending it’s for people's benefit.

I just voted YES to extend healthcare subsidies that keep folks insured. My own insurance went up $2,400 this year. Others have been hit even harder.
It just passed in the House.
Keep making your voices heard—it is working! 17 Republicans voted YES. Now, the Senate must do the same.
Under the Trump administration, ICE has become a rogue agency. It should have no role in immigration enforcement.
Renee Nicole Good was a mother of three. She was a writer and poet. Yesterday, an ICE agent shot and killed her. She had joined countless other Americans in protest of ICE’s cruel and unlawful tactics. I join the nation in mourning her loss.

Congress has to draw a line now. On the most consequential decision of going to war, we cannot allow the President to sideline Congress.
Americans do not want and cannot afford another forever war.

En lugar de enfocarse en reducir los costos de salud, Trump está ocupado en “dirigir” Venezuela.
Instead of focusing on lowering healthcare costs, Trump is caught up in “running” Venezuela.

I will keep fighting against actions that undermine democracy at home and abroad. The American people, and the world, must know that democracy is worth fighting for.
Five years ago, I served as an impeachment manager during Trump’s 2nd impeachment trial to hold the President accountable for his role in the attack. Today, I joined House Democrats for the reconvening of the January 6th Committee panel to continue to reckon with the damage the President has done.
In the months leading up to the attack, President Trump tried to overturn the results of a free and fair election. During the attack, Trump abdicated his responsibilities as commander-in-chief and incited chaos and lawlessness.
