I'm very proud of Texas House Democrats for fighting Trump and Abbott’s illegal power grab. They have galvanized people across the country to stand up for our democracy and push back against illegal redistricting. This isn’t over—we will keep fighting.

Today, Trump will engage in a high stakes summit with Putin. If he cuts a bad deal, it could incentivize future invasions.
Ukraine needs to be at the table.
It was great to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Social Security Act with local labor leaders in San Antonio. Social Security has helped millions of Americans retire with dignity, including my grandmother. In Congress, I’m proud to fight for Social Security now and for future generations.
I met with representatives from @vetsaboutface.bsky.social’s South Texas Chapter to discuss U.S. foreign policies that support U.S. veterans and promote peace throughout the world. Thank you for your advocacy!
Texans deserve leadership, not self-dealing policies. (2/2)
Texans are paying more for groceries. Families are still recovering from floods.
Meanwhile, Gov. Abbott is threatening to remove Texas House Dems for protecting their constituents and impeached AG Ken Paxton is trying to arrest them and their supporters. (1/2)
Happy first week of school, San Antonio! I’m wishing a happy and productive year of learning ahead to all our students, teachers, and staff.
Congress has not authorized the use of the military in Mexico. This would be illegal and counterproductive.
The administration must immediately brief the Congress on this dangerous proposal before we end up in a war with our neighbor, ally & largest trading partner. www.nytimes.com/2025/08/08/u...
The Trump admin is trying to warp reality by claiming that there are no credible human rights violations in El Salvador. Doing so would be dishonest, politically motivated, and undermine the credibility of the United States. www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...
The FBI has no business—or legal authority—to track down Texas House Democrats. The list of people willing to abuse their power to help Trump steal five congressional seats is growing. It’s a threat to the rule of law and our democracy. www.expressnews.com/politics/tex...

Strong leaders fought for voting rights because they knew what was at stake: affordable healthcare, clean water and air, accessible education, Social Security and more.
As we recognize 60 years of the Voting Rights Act, we must do our part to protect this cornerstone of democracy.
My heart is with the loved ones of the victims from the shooting that took place at Fort Stewart in Georgia. Our servicemembers deserve to be safe in the country they sacrifice so much for. We must work to end the gun violence epidemic that has reached every corner of our society.
Impeached Ken Paxton and twice impeached Donald Trump are threatening to send the FBI after Texas House Democrats. It’s an illegal, authoritarian move that will not stand. www.tpr.org/government-p...
As disgraced Attorney General Ken Paxton should know, he has no legal authority to remove Texas House Democrats who are standing up for our state. We’re not giving up the fight to protect our democracy and the voice of every Texan. www.tpr.org/government-p...
Thank you to Texas State Democrats, who are doing everything in their power to stop the illegal stealing of five congressional seats. Texans deserve leadership that fights for their voice and their future.
As we remember those we lost in the El Paso mass shooting, we must condemn racist rhetoric that tears apart our communities and makes us less safe, and stop dangerous people from getting dangerous weapons so easily.
Six years ago, a gunman in El Paso murdered 23 innocent people and wounded 22 others in the worst targeted attack against Latinos in U.S. history.
This illegal map is a direct attack on the Voting Rights Act, suppresses the voice of thousands of Texans, and hurts black and brown communities the most.
We need to keep speaking out and letting Republicans know this map cannot stand. I’ll keep fighting. This is not over.
