He is a DACA recipient who did everything the right way. Today, I met with Stephanie and her husband Juan to check on them and work toward his release. The Trump Administration must stop targeting Dreamers who make our country great.
Stephanie Villarreal is a U.S. citizen and mother of 3—her youngest is 9 weeks old. Her husband was on the way to visit their newborn daughter in the NICU when ICE arrested him. He has been locked away in Laredo, Texas, at a for-profit detention center—unable to hold his baby and raise his children.
Going to Laredo to visit Juan Velasco, a DACA recipient picked up by ICE while on his way to visit his newborn in the NICU.
The Trump Administration has arrested hundreds of DACA recipients since January 2025.
These are good, hardworking people. Not criminals.

ICE is targeting physicians who serve our communities. It is ripping families apart and hurting patients. The Trump Admin should release Dr. Bolivar immediately and end its indiscriminate mass deportation campaign.
Dr. Rubeliz Bolivar works at an ER in South Texas and is passionate about educating the public about staying healthy. She was traveling to California with her 5-year-old daughter, who is a U.S. citizen, when ICE detained her despite having work permits and a pending asylum case.
His family and his beloved Bronx community are in my thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace.
Former Rep. Eliot Engel was a dedicated public servant who made New York & our country a better place. I had the honor of serving with him on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Under his skilled leadership as Chair of the committee, he helped advance U.S. interests & human rights around the globe.
Dr. Véliz should be released immediately.
The Trump Admin’s mass deportation campaign is destroying lives. ICE is not going after the worst of the worst, they are targeting people like Dr. Véliz, who has been living in the U.S. for nine years, married to a U.S. citizen, and meeting the healthcare needs of a severely underserved population.
Last year, Dr. Ezequiel Véliz was named 2025 Resident of the Year at UT Health, Rio Grande Valley.
Last week, ICE detained him in McAllen, Texas—ripping him away from his family, his life, and his patients.
Update: Just left Dilley. More secrecy, same cruelty under the new DHS Secretary.

The President is threatening genocide and possible use of nuclear weapons against Iran.
It’s clear the President has continued to decline and is not fit to lead. The members of his Cabinet must invoke the 25th Amendment immediately.
The President must immediately make it clear that the use of nuclear weapons in Iran is off the table.
The President’s threat to destroy Iranian civilization suggests he’s either considering using a nuclear weapon or wants Iran to believe he would. Israel and Iran have already struck close to one another’s nuclear facilities.
Update on the San Antonio ICE Raid from November + Visiting San Benito facility for pregnant teenage girls on Tuesday + Returning to Dilley on Wednesday.

A vote to fund this illegal war is a vote for this illegal war. I will vote no.
Rather than immediately ending this war, which he never should have started, by negotiating a ceasefire and a diplomatic agreement to re-open the Straits of Hormuz, the President is asking Americans to pay for it by cutting services they rely on like Medicaid and Medicare.
Even countries like Israel, which are actually directly threatened by Iran, are not willing to send ground troops into Iran. The United States should not either.
