The administration has no problem withholding available SNAP funding while at the same time using your money to fund their warped priorities:
Argentina ($40 billion)
Modifications to Trump's Qatari plane ($400 million)
Kristi Noem's private planes ($170 million)

Thankfully, various states know the money is there and are suing the administration in order to protect Americans against Trump’s terrible decision to withhold the funds

"But Congresswoman, Republicans are trying to continue funding SNAP."
Um…FYI Republicans made massive, permanent cuts to SNAP in their "One Big Beautiful Bill” which will go into effect next year - all to give wealthy Americans massive tax breaks!

SNAP funding doesn’t just support hungry Americans; every $1 billion invested in SNAP also supports 13,560 additional jobs.

This decision hurts Americans AND our economy.
The USDA estimates that every $1 spent on SNAP benefits generates $1.54 in economic activity.
This is especially important during this economic downturn (a result of Trump's bad economic policies).

Back in February, when Congress was up against another potential government shutdown, the guidance was clearly to continue funding SNAP.
But today, the administration has made an about-face that will cause Americans real pain.

Their deleted memo states “...SNAP’s operations should continue since the program has been provided with multi-year contingency funds that can be used for State Administrative Expenses to ensure that the State can also continue operations during a Federal Government shutdown.”
The USDA has a $6 billion contingency fund and had a plan to use the money to fund SNAP in November.
But they deleted the plan and then announced that they could not "legally" use the funding.
Not true.
They are cravenly choosing to withhold the money.

The Trump administration has always had food assistance for hungry Americans on their target list.
Their “One Big Beautiful Bill” slashes $186 billion next year.
But the cuts coming next week are a CHOICE Trump and Republicans are making.

Mike Johnson says that Republicans restored your right to speak your mind.
To be fair, he does laugh when he says it.
Thank you to everyone who participated in my texting town hall yesterday!
Here’s a recap of some of the most common questions I received.
At the same time, millions of Americans have started receiving notices that their healthcare costs are about to skyrocket.

We’re two weeks into the Republican shutdown and I keep asking myself, “where are the Republicans?”
I'm grateful to all our community partners and organizations that made my resource fair for federal employees this past weekend possible.
My team and I continue to update my federal employee resource page online. For more information, visit escobar.house.gov/shutdown/
On Indigenous People’s Day, we celebrate the contributions, traditions, culture and history of Indigenous communities.
Today and every day, may we honor the legacy of the Tigua tribe of Ysleta del Sur Pueblo.
If federal employees aren’t getting paid, Members of Congress shouldn’t either.
I’m withholding my own pay until all 18,000 federal employees in El Paso and all service members at Fort Bliss are paid.
Support for millions of Americans losing their health insurance? ZERO
Support for farmers, who can’t sell what they’ve grown because of tariffs? ZERO
Support for the federal workforce? ZERO
But support for Argentina? $20 BILLION

🚨 Day 9 update on the Republican government shutdown
I sent an email survey to 185k El Pasoans and more than 8 in 10 respondents say Republicans should work with us on extending health insurance tax credits for American families.
Our community knows what's at stake with the Republican shutdown.
To all federal workers and servicemembers: hope to see you there.
