I stood with my Congressional Black Caucus colleagues and the NAACP to call on Black athletes, families, and fans to boycott public universities in states seeking to erase Black representation.
This should come as a surprise to no one. This Administration continues to prioritize wars abroad and attacks on the most vulnerable people across our communities over doing anything to improve the day-to-day lives of Americans.
Trump is now doubling down saying his quote about him not thinking about Americans’ finances “even a little bit” was the “perfect statement”.

The same man who blames our country’s problems on immigrants is, once again, stealing taxpayer dollars. Oligarchs like Trump are the problem in our country and this blatant show of corruption demonstrates that clearly once again.
Trump’s nearly $2 billion fund which spends taxpayer dollars to pay-out his political allies may top the list of most corrupt and indefensible actions this Administration has taken.
Our federal government should not compromise and allow private insurance companies to keep raking in billions while our communities are struggling to get the care they need.
I’ll support all efforts to expand healthcare access—but Medicare for All is the proper route forward.
Congress must take the proper steps to protect places of worship and combat xenophobia in all forms. Islamophobia has no place in our country and hate is a poison to society.
I am deeply saddened by the news of a shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego. My heart is with the victim and their loved ones during this time—and I am thankful for the swift response by law enforcement.
Last year, I helped introduce the PROTECT Immigration Act to put an end to this program—but the fear this agency is causing throughout our communities emphasizes the need to dismantle this rogue agency in its entirety.
At @ramirez.house.gov's shadow hearing on ICE’s 287(g) program, I asked Carolina Migrant Network’s Co-Founder Stefania Arteaga about how this program is destroying trust in local law enforcement.
I was proud to secure over $600,000 in federal funding for this project, and I will keep working alongside our local partners to make sure that we are meeting the moment with efforts to tackle the housing crisis.
While students across our district are struggling with the rising cost of housing, I am very happy to see the construction of affordable housing at Durham Technical Community College moving forward.

Trump now targets anti fascists
"Rep. Valerie Foushee, D-N.C., calling the strategy “a plan on how they’re going to attack people on the left,” noting that antifascists are “not a real terrorism threat in the United States.” ... the effort is “completely corrupt.”"

As a former volunteer myself, I’ve seen firsthand how this program transforms lives and will always fight to ensure it remains properly funded.
Today marks 61 years since #HeadStart was founded! This program has long been a major part of our nation’s efforts to bridge early learning gaps for families across the nation.
Congratulations to the North Carolina Central University Men’s Tennis Team on this recognition honoring your 2025 HBCU National Championship! This highway dedication commemorates a remarkable milestone for the program and celebrates the hard work and excellence of these student athletes and coaches.
Earlier this year, I helped introduce the Ensuring OBGYN Care in Prisons Act to ensure that all prisons with a female population employ at least one full-time OBGYN and prevent the denial of essential reproductive care to those in federal custody.

Tiffany McElroy’s story of giving birth on the prison floor as guards sat back and watched is absolutely heartbreaking.
No person should ever be denied essential healthcare—this is a deep violation of our human and civil rights standards.

After losing her son, Sewell, to suicide because of an AI chatbot, Megan Garcia has been a powerful advocate for regulating these companion chatbots and passing the GUARD Act.
Her story is one of resilience. Please take a moment to listen to her explain why this work is so important, and urgent.
The barriers Dr. Koch continues to break is an important reminder to women around the world that we too can make lasting change and deserve the opportunity to do so.
