Every day, more Americans receive notices that their health care costs are about to skyrocket because of the crisis Republicans created. Republicans chose to shut down the government instead of fixing this mess. They need to finally negotiate with us and end this chaos.
While my Republican colleagues all relax at home during the Trump shutdown, I wanted to update you on the latest insanity Trump and Republicans are doing to curb opposition to their policies.
It’s week 3 of the Trump shutdown, and Republicans are still nowhere to be found. I’m back in Washington with @housedemocrats.bsky.social, standing firm to reopen the government and save health care.
Did you know that Representative-elect Grijalva is the last vote we need for our petition to release the Epstein files? She should have been sworn in WEEKS ago, but Speaker Johnson is refusing to let her. Last night I marched to his office to demand he swear her in. What’s he hiding?
The health care premium increases Republicans are trying to force down our throats will be catastrophic. In my district, we’ll see over 400% increases – and next door in Rep. LaMalfa’s district, prices will go up over 500%. Republicans need to reverse course and help us save health care.
Too often, tribes are left out of important decision-making in our communities. On #IndigenousPeoplesDay, I remain committed to supporting policies that uphold their sovereignty, protect tribal lands, and advance tribal programs.
Our service members already sacrifice so much for our country — they shouldn't have to give up their paychecks too. Trump and Republicans couldn't care less — they are threatening to take away their pay by extending this shutdown and refusing to compromise on basic health care policy.
The Republican shutdown has furloughed 750,000 federal workers, limited millions’ food assistance, & created a full-blown health care crisis. Yet Trump is using it as an opportunity to deploy the National Guard to Democratic cities & revoke funding for affordable energy projects in our communities.
We’re now a WEEK into the government shutdown, and Republicans are still dug in. They've gone on vacations and canceled another week of work in D.C. Republicans need to get back to Washington and help Democrats end this disaster once and for all.
Americans are already facing higher bills because of Trump’s war on clean energy – and now he’s twisting the knife even deeper by cutting $8 billion in projects designed to lower electricity costs. Over 160 Democrats and I are demanding that DOE Secretary Wright immediately reinstate the projects.
As the Republican government shutdown continues, I was glad to host a town hall in Crescent City over the weekend and answer #CA02 constituents' questions regarding what's going on. You can watch the full town hall at the link below.
Trump's weaponization of the National Guard against our communities has nothing to do with public safety – it's all about expanding power and intimidating anyone who disagrees. This is appalling and un-American.
We’re on the edge of a health care cliff because Republicans refuse to negotiate – their solution was to shut down the government. I'm demanding they work with Democrats to save health care and prevent any further harm to American families.
Trump’s $1.2 billion cuts to affordable clean energy projects are insane. And one of them is in our own district. Cutting this project will drive up energy bills for nearly every household in our state. It's reckless, vindictive, and going to hurt a lot of Americans.
This was a peaceful, humanitarian mission by civilians & volunteers—including one of my constituents. It's imperative the people involved in this aid effort are treated safely, lawfully, and released. Israel and the international community must prioritize humanitarian assistance to Gaza immediately.
