Today, I was notified of another death that occurred in ICE custody, bringing the total to 45 deaths under the second Trump administration.
These are not just numbers, they’re people. It’s devastating and we can’t let it continue. We need accountability & we must dismantle ICE.
Here’s where things really stand on TSA funding.
As #WomensHistoryMonth comes to an end, I want to highlight a fantastic leader in our district: Director of the UW’s Center for Human Rights Angelina Godoy!
Angelina is the inaugural recipient of the Helen H. Jackson Chair in Human Rights, and is an integral part of UW and our Seattle community.
“The average time in custody for unaccompanied children has skyrocketed, from around 37 days to nearly 200 days.”
Neha Desai from the National Center for Youth Law has seen firsthand how the Trump admin has ripped families apart and the harm it has caused.
Once again, Washington State is leading the way as one of the first states to officially ban federal agents from wearing face masks.
Now, we need to vote to put real guardrails — including no masks — in place for ICE and CBP on the federal level.
For too long, tech giants have gone unrestricted, putting childrens’ safety and mental health at risk.
As the tech industry grows, we need accountability and real guardrails for companies like Meta more than ever. This ruling is a step in the right direction.
I have been clear since the start of the appropriations process: I will not vote to give Trump’s ICE or CBP another cent without major reforms.
Tonight, Republicans forced through a bill that will continue the chaos that has left TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard unfunded. Read my full statement.
We not only need to hold Trump accountable for his attacks on our immigrant communities, we also need to hold every single Republican, corporate CEO, and Trump supporter accountable for being complicit and refusing to take a stand.
Immigration detention is no place for a child.
Republicans keep changing their minds about whether or not to finally pay TSA agents.
Democrats have been consistent since day one. We want to immediately fund TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard. But we will not give a penny more to ICE and CBP, which need to be dismantled.
We need to ensure that every single child is provided an attorney in immigration removal proceedings. Children should not be expected to represent themselves in court.
“I shouldn’t be living like this. No kid should.”
Listen to Manny, a 17 year old U.S. citizen, speak about the constant fear that he and his community live in due to ICE’s attacks on our families.
I have seen firsthand how absolutely shocking the “kids docket” is in immigration court, where young children are forced to represent themselves in a language they might not even understand.
This is a cruel system that leads to lasting trauma. We must fix this.
Trump has ripped apart families, detained people of all statuses, and forced young children to appear alone in court as he cuts funding for legal representation.
Today, I’m hosting a hearing to demand justice for the children and families who have been harmed.
The Trump administration is traumatizing children through their cruel deportation campaign.
Today, we’re hosting a hearing to fight for justice and the truth. Watch:
Sending good luck to our @mariners.com on opening day!!
This year the series is ours⚾🔱💙
Trump’s mass deportation campaign has caused incredible harm and trauma to children.
We need to fight back. Tomorrow, I will be hosting a shadow hearing with experts, advocates, and those directly impacted to demand accountability and justice.

Republicans always resort to cutting programs people actually need, like health care and Social Security.
We should instead be working on a more equitable tax system where the wealthy pay their fair share.
I don’t want to hear Republicans claim they care about “fiscal sustainability” ever again.
Congressman Meeks and I are leading a bill to BLOCK Trump from using any taxpayer money to attack Cuba without prior congressional authorization.
No more forever wars. No more illegal, unconstitutional attacks.
