As a former prosecutor of sexual assault, I take these allegations very seriously. Survivors courageous enough to come forward deserve to be heard fully, without being smeared in the media by pundits or political hacks. Credible claims require a full investigation.
Nuclear decision-making demands restraint, not impulsive action. My colleague @repscottpeters.bsky.social proposes sensible safeguards, such as requiring confirmation before any first strike, to constrain the world-altering authority any president–especially this one–holds.
That raises serious national security concerns, and it’s why I’ve demanded a full CFIUS review of their investment.
It gives sovereign wealth financiers–several with plainly anti-American agendas– influence over platforms that shape how Americans get their news and information, and control over the personal data of more than 100 million Americans.
Let’s be clear: the Saudis, Qataris, Emirates, and Chinese aren’t just investing—they’re positioning themselves inside a major U.S. media company.
This isn’t mere passive investment. Paramount’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery and its subsidiary, CNN, is threatening to national security.
Last year, I called for oversight of NOAA, the agency responsible for protecting marine life. I’m working across the aisle on draft legislation to help prevent these deaths by leveraging data from whale-sightings by commercial ships.
As whales migrate along the California coastline, more are entering the Bay and staying longer. With over 24 whales found dead in 2025 and more already this year, these losses hit our Bay community hard.
Thank you to Dennis & Sandra Fernández and the San José Vietnam War Memorial Foundation for preserving their legacy.
Last week, I joined families and friends of our fallen heroes at the San José Vietnam War Memorial to remember the 142 Sons of San José who gave their lives in Vietnam. Each name carries a story, a family, a sacrifice.
Dismissing this pause in fighting as another episode of “TACO Trump” doesn’t acknowledge the deeply dismal moment we face. Our president is deeply unwell, and the Cabinet must invoke the 25th Amendment.
Didn’t have it on my bingo card that Pakistan would persuade an American president to stand down from threats to commit war crimes.
I admired Rod most for his passion; never stopped fighting for our Valley’s—and our planet’s—future. I won’t forget his firm handshake and kind guidance, and we must never forget his legacy.

Artemis fans who want to follow the latest movements of our lovable lunar snooper can do so at a pretty cool NASA web tracker: www.nasa.gov/missions/art...
Wishing everyone who celebrates a blessed Easter, filled with joy and time with family and loved ones.
Every single one of our meals depends on the difficult labor of a farmworker.
Thank you to Coastside Hope and Puente de la Costa Sur for hosting the 2nd Annual Farmworker Convention and honoring the people who keep our region running.
It will take a generation to rebuild from the destruction of the last 15 months…

We secured $2 million in Community Project Funding to help Pacifica Schools build affordable housing for teachers and staff. Last month, I met with Superintendent Bowman and saw how they’re hustling to get shovels in the ground on this important project.
Brutal rents have priced out too many teachers from the communities they serve.
Wishing all who celebrate a meaningful and joyful Passover. May this holiday bring you reflection, renewal, and time with loved ones.
The plain words of the 14th Amendment leave no room for debate: anyone born in the United States holds citizenship. The Supreme Court must defend birthright citizenship.
