Today is World Refugee Day, a day to recommit to helping those most in need. As co-sponsor of the resolution recognizing world refugee day led by @reptedlieu.bsky.social, we are calling on the U.S., the richest nation on earth, to keep its arms open to those fleeing persecution, war, or worse.
Trump has turned his back on the world’s most vulnerable people by banning refugees and cutting foreign aid programs. Today, we stand up. Introduced a resolution to honor World Refugee Day and reiterate our moral responsibility to help those fleeing unimaginable circumstances.
White and yellow text overlayed a black background. Text reads: “CONGRESSMAN TED LIEU INTRODUCES WORLD REFUGEE DAY RESOLUTION” and “As the Trump Administration bans refugees and stops humanitarian aid, this resolution honors June 20 as World Refugee Day and reiterates our nation's obligation to help refugees who are fleeing unimaginable circumstances.”
I am profoundly grateful for the local, state, and federal law enforcement officials who have tirelessly worked around the clock for the past 48 hours to track down the suspect and bring him to justice. Our communities are safer thanks to their efforts.
Minnesotans of all political backgrounds must unite to condemn this and all politically motivated acts of violence. In a democracy, we do not respond to acts of public policy with acts of violence motivated by extremism.
Republicans voted to try to legalize Elon Musk's illegal and unconstitutional cuts to services Americans rely on — after the fact. Republicans are proving they’ll rubber stamp whatever Trump asks them to — no matter how destructive it is to our communities.
It is appalling to see DHS agents handcuff and wrestle Alex Padilla to the ground for asking a question of Secretary Noem. This blatant abuse of power by the Trump Administration must be condemned by Republicans and Democrats alike. Trump wants Americans to be silent. We must be louder than ever.
The federal government has absolutely no business regulating the reproductive healthcare decisions of American servicewomen. We trust our servicewomen to protect and serve our country — we should trust them to make decisions about their own bodies.
The pristine lakes of the Boundary Waters — our nation’s most-visited wilderness — must be protected. Secretary Rollins put no thought, logic, or analysis into her decision to potentially expose the Rainy River watershed to highly toxic sulfide-ore copper mining.
Republicans in Congress want to tear down our state because they don't like our Governor (he has a 58% approval rating). But here's the truth: Minnesota is a great place to live. We're #1 in health care, #2 in economic opportunity, #3 in homeownership, and #4 in quality of life.
I welcome @governorwalz.mn.gov to Washington. But why is he here? Because House Republicans need to attack Democratic governors to try to distract Americans from an ugly truth – their Big Beautiful Bill strips health care away from their own constituents to give tax cuts to billionaires.
This is a major win for clean water and for all Americans in the fight to protect our fresh water and our public lands from the greed of right-wing billionaires who want to sell off Minnesota's national treasure to a giant foreign corporation.
