I will never stop fighting to protect the rights, dignity, and history of LGBTQ+ New Yorkers.
The removal of the Pride flag from the Stonewall National Monument was a deliberate act of LBGTQ+ erasure. I was proud to join our community to re-raise the Pride flag in February, and am even prouder today that our bold actions led the Trump administration to concede defeat.
I’m glad to see her fired, but her dangerous actions will be long felt by our most vulnerable neighbors.
If her replacement continues Trump’s cruel mass deportation policies and continues terrorizing communities, we will hold him accountable too.
As I’ve long said, Kristi Noem needs to resign, be fired, or impeached.
Just yesterday House Judiciary Democrats questioned her and she evaded all accountability. ICE agents ran amok, killed US citizens in the streets, and mistreated thousands of others.
Overnight, Trump started an illegal war without approval from Congress and against the wishes of the American people.
This war will bring needless death and destruction – risking American lives and civilian casualties.
Congress must bring up a War Powers resolution immediately.
ICE is terrorizing our neighbors and ripping students from their homes. We are doing everything in our power to help bring the student home.
ICE has no place in our City, schools, and homes. Law enforcement agents should not, under no circumstance, misrepresent their identity to gain entrance into a residence. These actions do not keep us safe, they only sow distrust and fear into our community.
Joint statement from me and @micahlasher.bsky.social:
We are disgusted and outraged that ICE agents entered a Columbia University residential building under false pretenses and without a judicial warrant to detain a student.
I was proud to vote for it then, and I'm proud as a member of the @equality.house.gov to be a co-sponsor of the bill this Congress.
Supporting the LGBTQ+ community’s fight for equality has been a core tenant of my work, and I'll keep fighting to ensure ALL people are protected from discrimination, no matter who they are or who they love.
Today marks 5 years since the House passed the Equality Act to enshrine explicit protections for LGBTQ+ people into federal law.
I will not lend legitimacy to rhetoric designed to mislead the American people and distract from policies that harm working families.
I will not be attending the State of the Union tonight.
Trump will use the SOTU to spread falsehoods, inflame hatred, and deepen division, just as he has time and again.
At stake is Congress’ constitutional authority to determine its own rules, and the continued enforcement of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.
As lower courts have already decided, the PWFA is settled law and duly enacted, no matter how many times far right activists try to sue.
I filed an amicus brief with the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in Texas v. Bondi with @raskin.house.gov, @delauro.house.gov, @repmcgovern.bsky.social, and @morelle.house.gov.
Our nurses put everything on the line in their fight for fairness, dignity, and respect from our city’s hospitals.
This encouraging news is a testament to the tenacity of @nynurses.bsky.social at NewYork-Presbyterian and across NYC.
Use of the United States military must be an act of last resort, not a mindless bargaining maneuver. The President must engage in good faith, honest diplomacy, not extortionate “deal-making” aimed primarily at achieving a Nobel Prize.
Congress must do our job and stop Trump’s reckless actions.
Only Congress has the power to declare war.
Trump is threatening an illegal strike on Iran that will bring needless death and destruction. This is a clear case of a wannabe dictator grasping at straws to exert power.
Today's Supreme Court ruling is a win for Americans across the country who are shouldering the costs of Trump's chaotic tariffs.
Democrats will never stop fighting to lower costs and hold Trump accountable.
