Always a joy to celebrate Somali Independence Day on Lake Street! Contrary to right wing trolls, Somalis are helping Minnesota thrive. Guul iyo gobanimo Somalia 🇸🇴

The House will vote on an amendment that would block funding to Israel. It should be a no brainer: Our tax dollars should not fund a genocide. We cannot continue to be complicit in Israel’s crimes against humanity.
The Supreme Court just upheld birthright citizenship, blocking Trump's attempt to dismantle the 14th Amendment and strip away a constitutional guarantee. If you were born here, you are an American citizen. The Constitution is clear. No one can change that. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Today I proudly voted early for our DFL-endorsed candidates here in Hennepin County. Cedrick Frazier for County Attorney, Keith Ellison for Attorney General, Ilhan Omar for U.S. House, and Peggy Flanagan for U.S. Senate.

Trump has thrown our country into complete chaos: ICE is terrorizing families. Trump is peddling an unwanted, deadly war in Iran. And working people are suffering under skyrocketing costs, while billionaires rake in record profits. None of this is normal. My op-ed: mynorthnews.org/stories/2026...

Always a delight to see our Congresswoman Ilhan Omar @ilhanmn.bsky.social visiting local Pride events. Here we are at People's Pride in Powderhorn Park this afternoon. Congresswoman Omar is running for re-election, and she has a primary challenger. Vote Ilhan by August 11! @teamilhan.bsky.social
Me and Ilhan. There is a furry in the background.

We are sick and tired of our healthcare system putting profits before people. We need to create a future where every single person can get the care they need regardless of their ability to pay. We need Medicare for All. My op-ed with @publiccitizen.bsky.social: truthout.org/articles/our...
I assimilated all the way to Congress and this idiot still tells me to go back where I came from.
Tom Emmer: "Minnesotans are so afraid that you're gonna call us a racist, you're gonna call us an Islamophobe. You know what? I'm done being even the least bit careful. Somalis don't assimilate. And if they don't assimilate, then they should go the hell back to where they came from."
