I will continue to support you during this time of increased scrutiny, and encourage you to stand together, work with local cultural organizations, and accompany each other during errands in your daily lives.
Thanks to those from Somali Health Board, Independent Business Alliance, Somali Community Services of Seattle, and Al Noor Islamic Center who joined me to discuss concerns about recent attacks and rhetoric impacting the Somali community in our state.
Today, I spoke at the Ukrainian Organization of Washington State rally to commemorate the 4th anniversary of the war in Ukraine. We must continue to stand with Ukraine and their ability to remain a sovereign, democratic nation.
I had the chance to speak at the Healthy King County Coalition to hear from public health and health care providers in our community about how to improve treatment access, support immigrant communities, expand mental health services, and addressing environmental protections. Thanks for having me.
Yesterday, I met with Harold Fields from Umami Kushi, a cafe in Rainier Beach, to talks about issues impacting minority-owned small businesses, as well as other concerns in our community including public safety, youth well-being, and gun violence prevention.
Today, we recognize the Day of Remembrance for Japanese Internment and honor all the lives of those impacted by the wrongful incarceration, expulsion, and treatment of these individuals.
A month’s worth of groceries in our district is $1,302. That cost has been jacked up from Donald Trump’s reckless tariffs, and hardworking families in WA-09 are footing the bill.
