Yesterday, I met with Harold Fields from Umami Kushi, a cafe in Rainier Beach, to talks about issues impacting minority-owned small businesses, as well as other concerns in our community including public safety, youth well-being, and gun violence prevention.
Today, we recognize the Day of Remembrance for Japanese Internment and honor all the lives of those impacted by the wrongful incarceration, expulsion, and treatment of these individuals.
During World War II, nearly 120,000 Japanese Americans were forced into internment camps, including over 10,000 from King County alone.
ICE needs to stop violating the rights of people all across this country.
I voted to stop Trump’s tariffs on Canadian goods and will continue to work to bring down costs for those in our community.
A month’s worth of groceries in our district is $1,302. That cost has been jacked up from Donald Trump’s reckless tariffs, and hardworking families in WA-09 are footing the bill.
