Combined with the State Department's visa pause for 75 countries and years-long waiting list, this is a de facto ban on legal immigration for much of the world. That hurts American businesses and pushes the best and brightest toward our global competitors.
In March, Trump said we have a "virtually unlimited supply" of munitions and could fight wars "forever." Now he's reportedly pausing arms sales to a critical ally because of shortages from a war of his own making.
Trump settled his own lawsuit against the government for a $1.776 billion slush fund of your tax dollars. The “settlement” not only creates payouts for Trump's cronies, it shields his family, companies, & trusts from any audits or actions by the IRS.
Today marks one year since Sarah Milgrim & Yaron Lischinsky were murdered in a horrific hate crime outside an AJC reception at the Capital Jewish Museum. Their memory deserves more than reflection; it demands action against antisemitism, against hate, & against senseless gun violence of any kind.
New Dems have a plan to lower costs across the country and Leadership Member @repgregstanton.bsky.social spells it out perfectly ⬇️
The American Dream used to mean that if you worked hard, you could get ahead. But right now, too many families are struggling just to get by. That's what @newdems.bsky.social's Affordability Agenda is all about: lowering the costs crushing families & giving everyone a fair shot. 🧵 Here’s the plan…
Right now, the system is stacked against you while corporations & billionaires make more than ever. We have to rebalance the scales. This is the our Affordability Agenda — a real plan to lower costs, deliver relief, & put working people first. I won't stop fighting until we deliver it.
Our @newdems.bsky.social plan? ✅ Pass national paid family and medical leave ✅ Expand the Child Tax Credit and Dependent Care Tax Credit ✅ Guarantee universal access to pre-K so families can afford to work and care for the people they love
For families with young kids or aging parents, care can cost more than college tuition. Even then, waitlists can stretch for months with no guarantee of a spot at the end. Caring for a loved one shouldn't bankrupt a family.
Our @newdems.bsky.social plan? ✅ Build more affordable renewable energy ✅ Reinvest in LIHEAP to help families with high AC and heating costs ✅ Make sure data centers can’t pass their costs on to local families
Utility bills and gas have skyrocketed since Trump took office. He has canceled clean energy projects, driven up gas prices with his war of choice in Iran, and ripped away funding for LIHEAP which makes sure families don’t have their electricity turned off during extreme heat and cold.
Our @newdems.bsky.social plan? ✅ Cut the red tape that makes building homes hard and expensive ✅ Invest in worker protections and construction technologies to help us build faster ✅ Allow vacant and underutilized properties to be converted to housing units
Meanwhile, buying a home & renting are becoming unsustainable for many Americans. Minimum wage workers can't afford to rent a 2-bedroom apartment in a single state in America today. The avg. age of a first-time homebuyer has risen from 28 in 1991 to 40+. That's not a housing market, it's a crisis.
Our @newdems.bsky.social plan? ✅ Permanently extend the ACA tax credits ✅ Reverse Trump’s dangerous Medicaid cuts and ban on funding for reproductive health providers ✅ Expand drug price negotiation so more families and seniors can get help
