Hillary Jeanne Scholten is an American politician and attorney who has served as the U.S. representative from Michigan's 3rd congressional district since 2023. She is the first woman to represent the district and the first Democrat to represent Grand Rapids in Congress since the 1970s. Her district, which was once represented by former President Gerald Ford, is based in Grand Rapids and much of the urban core of West Michigan.

No matter who you are or where you come from, I think we can all agree on one thing: flight delays stink. Now, Trump is making them even worse. His admin is scrapping a Biden-era rule to give travelers up to $200 for lengthy flight delays. Americans deserve a leader who fights for THEM!
Dredging our harbors, rivers, and lakes keeps our ports and shipping routes clear, allowing the flow of commerce to run smoothly. It’s crucial for the Grand Haven Inner Harbor in my district, which generates $88.8 million in economic impact and supports hundreds of jobs.
Community health centers are crucial to the health and well-being of our neighbors, especially those without access to comprehensive health care. It’s exciting to see new CHCs open in West Michigan — a true testament to our investment in community. www.wzzm13.com/article/news...
Through all the chaos and conversation surrounding the Epstein files, we must remember the most important individuals: the victims and survivors. I was able to meet with a few of the brave women who survived the atrocities & are fiercely advocating for justice for other survivors of sexual assault.
To honor Greatest Generation Day, I had the pleasure of presenting a proclamation in honor of the Greatest Generation’s sacrifice and grit during World War II. The Greatest Generation has left behind a legacy of courage, of dedication, and of putting country over self.
What Trump forgets is that he's not just undermining the Constitution when he goes around Congress; he's undermining the American people, who voted for this aid through their elected representatives.
Today, we celebrate the American worker as well as the labor organizations and unions that have changed the course of history in the fight for workers’ rights. I’ll never stop fighting to ensure West Michigan’s workers are able to thrive.
Proud of our team for surpassing $6.5 million in money returned to constituents in 2025 alone — and we’re not slowing down anytime soon! Reach out to my office at scholten.house.gov/help if you or someone you know needs assistance with a federal agency.
One of the most important functions of any Congressional office is our casework program, and here on Team Scholten, we take our work in getting West Michiganders back their hard-earned money VERY seriously. 🧵
Attention MI-03 high schoolers: Are you interested in learning more about the U.S. Naval Academy? They’ll be hosting an admissions forum at Ottawa Hills High School on September 21, 2025, and Team Scholten will be in attendance to discuss the service academy nomination process.
This new facility will ensure that our firefighters have the top-of-the-line space and equipment they need to prepare for emergencies, and provide a new and improved space for our emergency operations center. I’ll never stop working to ensure our first responders have what they need to succeed.
This week, we broke ground on the new Grand Rapids FD training facility — a testament to the achievements that can happen when federal, state, and local partners join together for the good of our community.
It was so meaningful to hear directly from West Michiganders about the cost of living crisis that hardworking American families are facing. We had a great conversation with community members at D&W Grocery about their concerns and ideas to make life more affordable for everyday folks.
The urgency and need for savings from Solar for All projects are clear in Michigan. This program lowers energy costs, bolsters economic development, and grows our energy independence. I’m proud to lead a group of Michiganders in Congress to call on the EPA to restore the Solar for All funding.
SEIU health care workers are fierce advocates for fair wages, a safe workplace environment, and workers' rights — I’m grateful for their efforts to support our workforce from the ground up.
