Children are a very good investment and I will fight these cuts.

The Trump administration is trying to cut pay and benefits for Head Start educators, who do the important work providing young children with high-quality early childhood education. And Head Start involves parents too, which improves outcomes for the whole family. 🧵
Trump gutted the Voting Rights Act and now he's working to block vote by mail. This administration is trying to dismantle the people's right to vote. We won't let them.
Public funds should go to public schools, not wealthy parents and private schools that discriminate.
Research consistently shows that the majority of families participating in voucher programs already send their children to private schools. We must keep federal funding in public schools where all students can benefit.
The Big Ugly Bill’s voucher scam is a backdoor way to dismantle public education and divert public resources into private institutions - including religious schools.
Public schools welcome and educate every child regardless of their background or income, and public funding should stay in public schools. 🧵
Gun violence has no place in our schools, homes, and communities. June is #GunViolenceAwarenessMonth, and I stood with colleagues to recognize the heartbreaking toll gun violence takes and to recommit to doing all we can to prevent gun violence.
Budget cuts, gun violence, immigration enforcement, and mental health are real issues facing kids in schools, yet this committee wants to spend its time threatening schools, teachers, and children. Enough is enough.
It's unacceptable that Republicans on the Education and Workforce Committee are once again picking on vulnerable children and school districts that understand the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
We must discuss the real safety issues facing our public schools. Books about queer people and accurate history are not on that list.
Grateful to spend #FosterYouthShadowDay26 with Evelyn at NFY Institute.
I remain committed to building a system that supports and empowers all children and youth.
This energy budget is a blueprint to prop up fossil fuel corporations that pollute and drive up prices.
Americans deserve better.
Mr. Secretary, firing 85 percent of your clean energy project staff does not improve "project management." It abandons American leadership in the affordable energy solutions we need.
They slashed more than 400 million dollars from clean energy projects in our state and Energy Secretary Wright said that prices are going to be “high and maybe even rising.” The Department of Energy should care about the American people, not just their fossil fuel friends.
Too many Oregonians and Americans are struggling to pay their energy bills, but Trump's Department of Energy is making it worse.🧵
I spoke with families who are advocating for child care and early childhood education! Children are our future, and investing in them early will mean that more kids will have a successful start and enter school ready to learn.
The House just passed landmark workers’ rights legislation! 🎉 I'm grateful we were able to force a vote to cut through the bureaucracy and speed up the process to get a first contract without delay once a union is formed. This is a big win for workers across America.

It's unconscionable that Republicans once again turned their backs on the American people.
Too many Oregonians can't afford food, health care, child care, or gas. Instead of helping address this affordability crisis, MAGA Republicans voted to give $70 billion more to ICE and CBP without any oversight.
