As inflation surges and families see their paychecks buy less each month, they have every right to ask why Republicans in Congress can always fund the President's political priorities but cannot find the urgency to lower costs.
My statement on today's inflation report:

BREAKING: Inflation jumps to 4.2%, the highest level since early 2023, keeping consumers under pressure as war with Iran keeps gas prices high.

NEW: US CPI inflation rose to 4.2% year-on-year in data released this morning, hitting the highest level since 2023 while increasing 0.5% month-on-month
Core CPI inflation rose to 2.9% year-on-year, increasing 0.2% month-on-month
Trump promised repeatedly that he would “end inflation” starting on day one but by almost every measure, he's failed to achieve those goals.
And far from lowering costs, his tariffs have only made the affordability crisis worse for the American people.

Celebrating 250 years of our democracy should be a celebration for every American, regardless of who they voted for. But Donald Trump only knows how to celebrate himself and is using your tax dollars to pay for it.

Just last year, Republicans in Congress gave DHS $170 billion to fund chaos and violence in cities across the country. It resulted in the deaths of American citizens.
They just voted to give DHS another $70 billion with no reforms to rein the lawlessness in. I voted NO.
Republicans in Congress are bringing up legislation that gives ICE another $70 billion in funding for a vote, while still refusing to extend ACA tax credits that help families keep their healthcare coverage.
They're telling us what their priorities are.
As Virginia hospitals grapple with the massive healthcare cuts enacted by Trump’s Big Ugly Bill, many are forced to consider service reductions or face possible closure.
For Virginians, this means limited access to care and longer travel times to reach providers.

A wonderful day to celebrate the completion of the North George Washington Memorial Parkway rehabilitation project.
I continue to work to secure funding for the much needed rehabilitation of the South Parkway.
NBC 4 Washington: “It is a place of beauty and peace. A memorial along the Potomac River in Alexandria, Virginia, was dedicated Monday to the 67 people who died in the midair collision in January of last year.”

Americans deserve a president who is focused on solving the issues Americans care about. Instead, Donald Trump is fiddling with ballroom wallpaper swatches while the world burns.

For over a year I’ve been conducting oversight visits at Delaney Hall and have seen a reality far different from what the Trump Administration has been selling the American people.

What I saw inside Delaney Hall was unjust. It was cruel.
That’s why I’m fighting to get an audit done immediately and improve conditions.
No more taxpayer dollars to fund this lawlessness.
The Trump administration sought falsely marking 2.7 million people as dead to cut them off from their paychecks, banking, and other resources. A disgusting and cruel abuse of sensitive government data.

The Department of Homeland Security has awarded more than $16.3 billion in contracts in the past six months — compared with $2.1 billion from 2016 to 2024.
Most of it has gone to two firms that have ties to the White House and the Republican Party.

More than half of the publicly identified donors to President Trump’s White House ballroom project have won new or expanded federal contracts worth more than $50 billion, according to a report from a government watchdog group.
Americans are already spending more on travel expenses, and now some won't be able to travel at all. Donald Trump's illegal war continues to make life more expensive for families, and he continues to show he doesn’t care.
