I send my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed, and to everyone grieving yesterday’s horrific act of violence at the Islamic Center of San Diego. I also recognize the courage of security personnel and first responders, whose actions helped prevent greater tragedy.

My office and I are aware of the active shooter situation at the Islamic Center of San Diego. We don't have any details about a potential motive yet, but I'm devastated for those students, worshippers, and the Clairemont community. Everyone should be able to pray, worship, and learn in peace.
Trump's slush fund would give nearly $2 BILLION in taxpayer dollars to his supporters, including violent criminals.
He's just stealing your money.
There's no transparency, we won't know who gets paid, or how much.
It's illegal and corrupt as hell. We're fighting it in court.

BREAKING: 93 House Democrats have filed a motion to block Trump’s self-dealing settlement in his sham $10 billion IRS lawsuit, which would create a $1.7 billion slush fund for Jan. 6 rioters and political allies.
Read more about my resolution with @debbiedingell.house.gov and Rep. Vern Buchanan to recognize today, Friday, May 15 as Endangered Species Day:

For over 50 years, the Endangered Species Act has helped iconic species like the bald eagle recover from the brink of extinction.
On Endangered Species Day, we celebrate these conservation successes and work to protect the richness and diversity of America’s wildlife.

I’ve said it before, and I will continue to say it: Mifepristone is safe, effective, and access to it is a right.
While the recent SCOTUS order is a victory, it’s temporary. And I will not stop fighting until access is fully restored.

Moments ago the Supreme Court preserved access to mifepristone as this case continues.
Mifepristone was safe and effective when the FDA first approved it over 25 years ago, and it has been safe and effective since.

This is just stealing money from American taxpayers and giving it to Trump's supporters, including many who were convicted of heinous crimes in a court of law.
Open theft and grand larceny on a massive scale from the most corrupt president in history.

This is unacceptable and Congress needs to stop it. I am a strong, long time supporter of legislation to ban stock trading by Members of Congress, and these bans must also cover senior government officials, especially the President.
The White House says all of this is fine because his business dealings are "managed by his children."
Riiiiight.
Here is a picture of Trump's son, who manages his business, with Trump in China this week.
Think you have access to the same info he does?
In mid February, Trump bought millions of dollars worth of stock in Axon, who makes Tasers.
A few weeks later, ICE announced that it would by hundreds of millions of dollars worth of Tasers.

Trump bought hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stock in another AI company, AMD, beginning on January 6. The Department of Commerce authorized AMD to sell their chips to China a week later.
Trump made trades of Palantir stock worth millions of dollars in the first few months of this year, beginning in January.
Then Palantir got a deal worth $1 billion from the Department of Homeland Security in February.

On January 6th of this year Trump bought up to $1 million of Nvidia stock. One week later-

Trump went on to make more extremely well-timed purchases of Nvidia stock.
This is so corrupt.
Trump is buying and selling stock in companies as he makes decisions that affect their stock prices.
We must ban stock trading by Members of Congress AND senior Administration officials including the President.
Just look at what happened here:

NEW: I just introduced bipartisan, bicameral legislation with Senator Cramer, Congressman Kelly, and @coons.senate.gov that would update the tax code to support charitable giving. Read more about the Charity Parity Act here:

Like so many of my constituents, I care deeply about animal protection and welfare – and I continue to work on these efforts in Congress.
