Another day, another Trump executive order—this time, it’s a full-blown attack on education:
• Rolling back protections against unfair school punishments for Black & Brown kids
• Threatening DEI in higher ed
• Targeting foreign funding
• Floating vague concepts of a plan for HBCUs
Let’s be real: the cost of living is out of control. People are living paycheck to paycheck. Rent is sky high. And folks are choosing between medication and meals—just trying to survive. Meanwhile, billionaires aren’t paying taxes and are getting richer by the day.
The Trump DOJ canceled grants for gun violence prevention, opioid addiction treatment, and victim advocacy—because saving lives doesn’t “align” with their priorities. These are the same folks claiming to make our streets safer.
The Justice Department on Tuesday canceled hundreds of grants to community organizations and local governments, including funding for gun-violence prevention programs, crime-victim advocacy and efforts to combat opioid addiction, according to an email obtained by The Post.
I’m honored to be named Advocate of the Year for the 29th Annual Webbys! Every day, I fight to make sure our communities are seen, heard, and protected—so to be recognized for that work at the Webbys means the world. Follow along on Monday, May 12 at #Webbys.
It’s #EarthDay — but some folks still treat our planet like it’s disposable. Let’s be real: Black and Brown communities feel the impact of environmental neglect first and worst. I’m fighting for clean air, safe water, and a livable future for all of us.
Oh, so jacking up grocery prices, crashing the stock market, threatening to slash Medicaid & SNAP, and slapping on ridiculous tariffs wasn’t enough? Now Trump’s coming for your paycheck and your tax refund—just because you fell behind on student loans during a pandemic.
BREAKING: Education Department says it will begin collection on student loans for over 5 million borrowers in default.
Once again, this Administration is playing a reckless game with foreign policy. A leaked EO shows plans to slash staffing at the U.S. Embassy in Canada and gut the Bureau of African Affairs. Because clearly, alienating allies and dismantling diplomacy is the key to "greatness," right?
Pope Francis dedicated his papacy to creating a more inclusive, loving, and equitable Catholic Church. My heart is with all of those who found faith, community, and hope under his leadership. He was a pillar of progress for the Catholic community and the world. May he rest in peace.
Pope Francis, the Catholic Church’s first Latin American pontiff, has died. He was 88. Follow live updates: apnews.com/live/pope-fr...

National security ain’t supposed to be a family affair, but apparently Pete Hegseth missed that memo. Leaking classified military plans—TWICE—the second time on a personal Signal chat to friends and family? That man has no business being Defense Secretary. He’s a threat, not a leader.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared detailed information about strikes in Yemen to a second unclassified Signal group chat that included his wife and brother, people familiar with the matter said. nyti.ms/4jBQ1wV

I’m glad SCOTUS stepped in & stopped that plane from taking off. Deporting folks with no record & no due process isn’t justice—it’s cruelty. Meanwhile, the Republicans follow a convicted felon like he’s the Second Coming. You can’t scream “law & order” while breaking the law at every turn.
The Supreme Court blocked the Trump admin from deporting Venezuelans out of the Bluebonnet facility in TX — for now. The Alien Enemies Act of 1798 has NO place in modern immigration policy. This pause is a win, but the fight is far from over. And yes — Thomas & Alito dissented. Of course they did.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court has blocked, for now, the deportations of any Venezuelans held in northern Texas under an 18th century wartime law.
The Dallas ICE office is involved in a mass removal effort targeting nearly 200 people — many without removal orders — scheduled to be deported to El Salvador today. This is not just cruel – it is lawless. I refuse to stay quiet while families are being torn apart, and lives are being put at risk.
