Over GOP opposition, the House passed a 3 year extension of ACA tax credits to shield 24 Million Americans—including tens of thousands of NW Ohio families from devastating price hikes. Now it's time for our colleagues in the Senate to pass a bipartisan extension and put American’s First.

This hard-fought funding package is a crucial step forward in blocking the worst attacks on our air, water, and public lands.
Thank you @murray.senate.gov, @delauro.house.gov, @merkley.senate.gov, @pingree.house.gov, and @repmarcykaptur.bsky.social for negotiating these impactful bills.
I served with Congresswoman @GabbyGiffords.bsky.social, and am still in awe at her courage after the 2011 attack.
15 years later? We still combat political violence, which has no place in our democracy. From NW Ohio to Tucson and far beyond, we stand united for safer communities.
I have sought over the course of the year information from DHS regarding ICE procedures and practices in the field without answers from the Trump Administration. It is time for answers, accountability, and prayer.
Tonight a child in Minnesota is without parents. video of a federal officer shooting and killing the mother are deeply disturbing. There must be a full investigation, and the law must prevail.
For 36 years Heidi Hess stood at the front of classrooms at Owens Community College and prepared over 1,000 men and women to answer the most urgent calls and life saving moments when every second counts. Thank you Heidi Hess for giving your heart and skills to others for decades.
Today the Trump White House released a revisionist history of January 6—blaming Capitol Police for inciting violence that day. As one of the Members trapped in the House gallery as the mob closed in, I can say with certainty those officers are heroes—to say otherwise disrespects all law enforcement.
On the eve of Congress’ return for its first session of the New Year, it is a joy to see NW Ohio homes still lit up for the Season of Hope despite the headlines driving the news.
Happy #NationalBirdDay! Each spring, billions of birds fill skies, link nations, and nourish ecosystems. Last year I introduced a bipartisan resolution proclaiming National American Birding Week to highlight just that. From the Great Lakes to backyards, migration reminds us why conservation matters!
We should not be imposing leaders to govern foreign nations. That is what dictators do. There are many questions still to be answered on what occurred, and what comes in the days ahead, and as a senior Defense Appropriator I plan to get those answers. May God bless our nation and our troops.
He replied from “the general accounts.” That is a dodge, not an answer. As a senior
Defense Appropriator, I plan to continue to push for transparency and answers. The United States of America should not be in the business of invading foreign nations and regime change to steal their material wealth.
Congress were lied to in briefings and the American people were lied to since. As a senior Appropriator who questioned Sec. Pete Hegseth on exactly which DoD accounts were being drained of Billions of dollars to conduct these costly foreign operations south of our border, no answer was forthcoming.
🧵 Overnight, the United States launched an illegal, large scale military attack against the nation of Venezuela. We have not passed a Congressional authorization to deploy our troops into harm’s way. No legal authority was granted by Congress to install or prop up an interim government of Venezuela.
Congress returns next week as massive Republican health care cost increases are being forced on tens of millions of Americans.
So, with GOP in control of the White House, Senate, and House, why won’t they fix this mess for working families?
Because they don’t want to upset the Billionaire class.
Happy New Year! May 2026 open doors to exciting adventures, new possibilities, and boundless opportunities in the year to come for all across NW Ohio. Wishing you and your families good health and cheer as we ring in 2026!
🚨 New federal funding to improve safety for walkers, bikers, and drivers coming home to NW Ohio. This $1.3 Million means new infrastructure improvements that will make life safer and create accessible community spaces for all.
The House GOP skipped town early for the holidays and let ACA tax credits expire. This week I continue to hear from Ohioans who are seeing their insurance premiums skyrocket for 2026—rates doubling, tripling, and families losing coverage, at the holiday season. Shameless cruelty!
