Surrounded by hundreds of strong women from across NW Ohio, we celebrated our 10th Annual Women’s Equality Day. Working together we are building a better future for generations of girls growing up in our hardworking region.
The Fulton County Fair, Ohio’s second largest, is such a treat! Thanks to the Fulton County Farm Bureau and Veterans Service Officers for all their work to showcase their work, and serve our veterans and farmers. And the famous Fulton County Milkshake…oh my!
Spent the afternoon standing with United Steelworkers and Machinists Union on strike at Libbey Glass in Toledo. They deserve a contract that ensures safe working conditions, retirement security, and dignity on the job. As we approach Labor Day it’s time for management to come back to the table.
Bittersweet Farms in Whitehouse is doing pathbreaking work in its mission. First envisioned by our beloved Bettye Ruth Kay, the impact of Bittersweet and all those who make it special for adults with autism in our NW Ohio communities is incalculable.

Heartbreaking news from Minnesota at the Annunciation Catholic School. Thinking about the community of students, families, and teachers grappling with this horrific act of terror. Our kids should be focused on the start of a school year filled with possibility, not this trauma and horror.
Today marks 105 years of the 19th Amendment, a landmark forged by courageous suffragettes who marched, protested, and sacrificed for equal rights. We honor their vision, and echo their commitment to a more perfect union. Standing on their shoulders, we continue working for true equality for all.
My heartfelt congratulations to Ohio native Travis Kelce on his engagement to Pennsylvania native Taylor Swift. Now that I have your attention—we must do everything we can to protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid before it is too late. People in both our states and nationwide depend on it.
President Trump’s firing of Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve Board of Governors extends a takeover of our US economy that benefits Billionaires at the expense of everyday Americans. Still no relief for families struggling to get by.
Funded through Energy and Water Appropriations through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. They haven’t changed the signs just yet.
The new Soo Locks with 21st century technology and greater depth will be a major win for our Great Lakes region, allowing our ports expanded access to global markets. Upon completion, this will be the first new Lock in Sault St. Marie in over 60 years.
We will be touring much of that new construction we helped fund tomorrow.
On my way to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan to tour the Soo Locks — a major artery for all of the goods that flow from ports across the Great Lakes region. From Duluth, to Toledo, to Buffalo, and beyond — this funding I delivered is helping communities across our Great Lakes region. More to come!
Growing up in a union household I learned that collective bargaining brought better working conditions, good health and retirement benefits, and dignity on the job for all workers. When it comes to standing with workers, let’s just say it’s not my first time here. #1u
Thanks to all for a warm welcome at the annual Defiance County Fair. Special thanks to multi-generational farmer Rod Rethmel for being such a kind host. Great to spend time with local veterans at the bean dinner and get a chance to recognize our young 4H future farmers for their impressive efforts.

Congratulations to Hasty’s Service Inc. on its 76th Anniversary! In the words of its founder, Pop, “Every time we make a friend, we grow a little.” In a nation short on mechanics and automotive know how, it is inspiring to see Bob Hasty continue this 3rd Generation family tradition.
Connecting Kids to Meals is uplifting their upcoming Hunger Action Month. Thanks to the New Leaf Group, Boys and Girls Club of Toledo, Taylor Automotive, UToledo Health, Pastor Boos and local leaders for speaking up about this important work—we can all work together to help those in need.
President Trump’s attack on mail-in voting threatens voting rights of working families, and our overseas military. While his Billionaire buddies can stroll to the polls on a Tuesday, many Ohioans work double shifts, care for loved ones, face health challenges, or serve our nation on the front lines.
