Great afternoon celebrating the Year of the Fire Horse at Council Member Shekar Krishnan’s Lunar New Year celebration in Elmhurst!
@reptedlieu.bsky.social & I led a letter to Secretary Marco Rubio urging the Administration to use all available resources to get stranded Americans home safely.
The Administration is urging Americans in the Middle East to depart immediately when many embassies, airports, and airspaces are already closed.
Where is the evacuation plan?
Wishing a joyful Holi to everyone celebrating in Queens and around the world! May your day be filled with vibrant colors, music, and dancing as we welcome the arrival of spring.
How can you tell Americans to depart immediately with airports and embassies closed and flights cancelled?
The State Department has a basic duty to provide consular services to Americans abroad. There should have been a plan in place. Now, people are stranded.
Tax season is here—but Direct File isn't. The President killed this free filing option, protecting big tax prep companies instead of taxpayers.
I'm cosponsoring a bill to make Direct File the law of the land.
Honored to join TBN24’s Ramadan Iftar & Dinner! I'm proud to represent such a vibrant Bangladeshi American community in Congress & to keep fighting for fair immigration policies—& against the President’s illegal tariffs that are driving up costs for families. Grateful for your friendship & support.
I will always stand with the brave service members who are risking everything to serve our nation and pray that they return home safely.
My heart is with the families and loved ones of the service members who lost their lives this weekend. I am also wishing for a swift and full recovery to those who were injured.

I introduced the Ban Harmful Food Dyes Act to ban cancer-causing dyes from our food.
This should be a bipartisan issue, but it looks like the Administration is now trying to make it easier for corporations to deceive consumers.
My Uniform Standards for Federal Law Enforcement Act would put the weight of the law behind the Justice Department's own existing use of force policy. (3/3)
We cannot rely on these politically motivated, dishonest agency leaders to set or follow their own rules—or, as Mr. Schwank himself said, to ensure that agents are lawfully and safely doing their jobs. Congress cannot allow this to continue. (2/3)
This week, former ICE lead instructor and attorney Ryan Schwank testified that ICE has cut back its training program, eliminating critical use-of-force instruction to rush new agents through. Cutting this training puts lives at risk—both officers and the public. (1/3)
There’s still time to speak up. I will be submitting a public comment to urge the Department to reverse course and I encourage you to too. (2/2)
🚨 Deadline approaching 🚨
The U.S. Dept. of Education is proposing a new rule - saying that nurses, OT and PTs are not considered professional degrees. If this is finalized, it will be harder for these students to get loans. (1/2)
Caught up with my fellow alumni at the University of Michigan Congressional Breakfast! Forever #GoBlue 💙💛
ICYMI: The deadline is this Friday (February 27) to apply for New York City’s free 3-K and pre-K programs. Families can apply at www.myschools.nyc or by calling 718-935-2009.
During my mobile office hours at Queens Public Library, I came across a children’s book called Some of Us: A Story of Citizenship and the United States. It’s a wonderful reminder that being American isn’t just about where we’re born—it’s about the community we build and the home we choose. 🇺🇸
