The National Park Service is accepting public comments on President Trump’s proposed “Triumphal Arch.” Curious what people thought, I started reading through the responses. Here’s what they say:
10 years ago today, 49 lives were stolen at Pulse Nightclub — a safe haven for Orlando’s LGBTQ+ community turned into a site of unimaginable horror. Let's honor the victims, survivors, and their loved ones by continuing to build a future free from gun violence, hate, and bigotry.
Happy Loving Day! 59 years ago, Virginia couple Mildred and Richard Loving won a landmark Supreme Court case that ended state bans on interracial marriage. Today, let’s celebrate their love, strength, and perseverance, while committing ourselves to fight against racism and discrimination.
Unlike Republicans, Ways and Means Democrats see Social Security and Medicare as promises to keep – not programs to cut.
Imagine working your entire life, paying into Social Security every paycheck, and trusting it will be there when you retire. Then watching politicians slash services, expose personal data, and threaten the very programs you earned. That's governance under Trump and Republicans.
Poet Galal El-Behairy has been imprisoned since March 2018 on baseless charges related to his writing of lyrics critical of President El-Sisi. The Egyptian government should release Galal immediately and end its systematic crackdown on free expression.
I’m grateful for emergency personnel's swift response to ensure the safety of everyone at the Pentagon and for the coordination among our federal and local partners. I’m relieved no hazard was identified and appreciate the public’s cooperation while safety protocols were carried out.
The American people do not want this war. Putting American boots on the ground would be a catastrophic mistake. 4 Republicans joined our war powers resolution, but we need a veto-proof majority to put American lives and our national interest over their fealty to a mad king.
As more AI data centers are built, Americans are concerned about their energy, water, and land use, as well as air, noise, and light pollution. Little reliable information is public, so @markey.senate.gov and I introduced our AI Environmental Impacts Act to bring it to light.
When President Kennedy signed the Equal Pay Act into law, women were making 30% less than their male counterparts on average. In the decades since, the Equal Pay Act has cut this gap in half, but we need to keep working until there is no pay gap at all!
