Republican leaders inserted a poison pill that continues both the far right's witchhunt of transgender individuals AND its obsession w/ intervening in health care decisions that should stay between a family & their doctor.
This blanket health care ban has no place in this bill.
The #FY25NDAA has a lot of good – from a record pay raise for enlisted servicemembers to provisions I fought for like a bill to improve housing for military families.
But just as with other routine bills this Congress, Republicans couldn't resist returning to their culture wars.
Our annual defense policy bill, the NDAA, has been a product of diligent bipartisan negotiations for decades - including in my time on the House Armed Services Committee.
This year, it largely continues that legacy – with one frustrating exception. 🧵
I'm an optimist — and despite his previous record, I'm taking seriously Donald Trump's interest in finally codifying DACA.
The President-elect should drop his more harmful proposals and work with Democrats on long overdue commonsense immigration fixes.

Water infrastructure is critical to the continued functioning of our communities on the Central Coast.
That's why I've worked to see these critical projects in our communities approved by Congress – ensuring we invest in clean, accessible water access for all of our residents.
NEWS: Congress reached a deal to greenlight $50 million+ in Central Coast water infrastructure projects, and that agreement I helped champion with the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure just passed the House!

Anyone who knows me knows I can’t resist bragging about Central Coast wine. 🍷
That's why I'm committed to fighting back against tariffs that will hurt our vintners, growers, farmers, and other Central Coast agricultural operations and RAISE your prices.

Far-right House Republicans are planning to reward their biggest donors with massive tax breaks while doing nothing to make life more affordable or grow our economy.
It's time to ditch the billionaire tax break agenda & work to lower your cost of living.
