Every year on Memorial Day, we come together to honor those who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms. Today, I joined Ellicott City’s VFW Post 7472 for their annual Memorial Day Community Lunch to pay tribute to these fallen heroes.
Our railworkers should not be penalized for choosing to – or sometimes needing to – work after retirement. Legislation like this is long overdue to level the playing field and ensure our railworkers keep the benefits they’ve earned to support themselves and their families.
That’s why I spoke on the House floor in support of @deluzio.house.gov and Congressman Nehls’ bipartisan legislation to eliminate provisions that unfairly reduce retirement payments for certain railroad retirees and spouses.
I sat down with the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Energy, Installations, and Environment for a discussion on all things installations, including improving energy resilience and stormwater action plans, expanding junior enlisted housing, and community partnerships. Stay tuned for our progress!
This week before heading to Washington, I had the chance to honor just one of the incredible role models who embodies the values of our Scouts in everything he does: President of Image Power and my dear friend of over a decade, Carroll H. Hynson Jr.
🎓 Congratulations to the 1,063 first-class midshipmen of the Naval Academy’s Class of 2026! This accomplishment reflects your years of hard work and dedication to becoming the best and brightest for the future of our forces.
Our students deserve access to the highest quality affordable education, and I’m committed to working with our Maryland colleges and universities to continue providing these important opportunities to our young people.
Last year, I met with University of Maryland Baltimore President Dr. Bruce Jarrell after the University faced nearly $41.1 million in cuts in federal grants by the Trump Administration – severely impacting their work as one of the nation’s leading professional schools & biomedical research programs.
We’ll have representatives from more than 10 agencies – including the Maryland Department of Labor, MD Veterans, BGE, @marylandconnect.bsky.social, and more – all in one place, ready to answer your questions. Be sure to RSVP at the link below! www.eventbrite.com/e/md-03-cons...
📆 Mark your calendars: our first #MD03 Constituent Resource Fair is only one week away! If you want to learn about all the services #TeamElfreth and our state and local partners can deliver for you, stop by our fair happening on Thursday, May 28th, at 5:30 PM in Howard County.

On the House Armed Services Committee, I’m working to bring good-paying shipbuilding jobs to #MD03 and deliver tangible benefits for northern Anne Arundel and South Baltimore. Stay tuned for the work ahead.
Since the 1700s, Baltimore has been a hub for American shipbuilding and manufacturing. Today, Coast Guard Yard in Baltimore (which is actually in the 3rd Congressional District!) still serves as the Coast Guard’s sole shipbuilding and major repair facility in the United States.
