I will never accept political violence as normal.
I’m horrified to hear that MN State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed in their home. State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were also shot and injured in their home.
My heart is with all their loved ones as they grieve. Political violence is never the answer & will never be accepted.
This news is deeply concerning.
A person’s health data should be treated with the utmost care and privacy by the federal government — not weaponized by the Trump administration to terrorize immigrants.

PEPFAR is one of the most successful global health programs to combat HIV/AIDS & has saved 26 million lives since 2003.
House Republicans passed Trump’s recissions package that cuts PEPFAR by $400M. Ending PEPFAR could result in 26 million new HIV infections by 2040.
We can’t go down that road.
We cannot and will not normalize what happened to @padilla.senate.gov.
No one -- not a sitting US Senator or any human being -- should be thrown to the ground and handcuffed for simply doing their job.
The abuse of power by the Trump administration is an attack on all of us.
My House Democratic colleagues are walking to the Senate right now to demand answers after @padilla.senate.gov was wrongfully handcuffed and detained.
@padilla.senate.gov was doing his job. He was asking questions at Sec. Noem’s public briefing.
Why is the Trump admin so scared of dissent? Of others speaking the truth?
They know they’re in the wrong. You cannot treat a sitting US Senator like this or silence the American People.
NOW: the House is debating Trump’s recissions package that steals $9.4 BILLION from the American people:
❌Cuts $1.1B from educational programs like Sesame Street
❌Cuts PEPFAR by $400M
❌Weakens US global power & cedes influence to China
This is money that’s already been appropriated by Congress.
Nine years ago today, 49 people were shot and killed at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando as they were dancing and celebrating Pride Month. 53 more people were injured.
I mourn with the LGBTQ+ community today and remain dedicated to ending gun violence and disarming hate. #DisarmHate
As protests against ICE arrests in Chicago continue to remain peaceful, I warn against any similar actions taken by President Trump in LA.
These abuses of power against our democracy are not welcomed in LA — and would not be welcomed in Chicago.

President Trump's Big, Ugly Bill cuts SNAP and Medicaid while giving tax breaks to the wealthy few.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social and I heard from people in Pennsylvania today. They're warning Republicans that costs of living are already too high, and the Big, Ugly Bill would make it worse.
LIVE: @housedemocrats.bsky.social are in Pennsylvania to meet with food bank organizers, doctors & union workers to discuss GOP's attacks on basic needs.
President Trump wants to make life more expensive for American families to give tax breaks to the wealthy few.

On Gun Violence Awareness Day, we remember those we’ve lost and the families forever changed. We can’t undo the harm gun violence has caused—but we can end it. Our kids, and their kids, deserve a future where they never have to say ‘enough is enough.’ Let’s work to make that future real. 🧡
Today, I #WearOrange for Hadiya Pendleton.
For the 46,000 lives lost to gun violence every year in the US.
For every American who’s been impacted by this public health epidemic.
For every gun violence survivor.
I stand with the @housedemocrats.bsky.social in the fight to #EndGunViolence.
But the Trump administration does not care about law & order. ICE only cares about meeting random deportation quotas. They’re detaining moms and separating families.
It’s cruel and reckless.

Chicagoans reported to a routine immigration check-in yesterday — and instead were taken by ICE.
These unlawful detentions caused chaos, and multiple aldermen and community members tried to protect their neighbors. They were simply following the law.

Americans need real action from Congress to end gun violence.
Moments of silence have never been enough. Thoughts and prayers have never been enough.
This #GunViolenceAwarenessMonth, I will continue my mission to build safer communities and #EndGunViolence.
Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” just got a lot uglier.
The NONPARTISAN Congressional Budget Office released an updated analysis of the Republican budget cuts to Medicaid: 16 MILLION people will lose their healthcare.
These Republican cuts are reckless and devastating.
Let’s be clear: emergency abortion care saves lives.
EMTALA requires hospitals to provide any lifesaving care — but President Trump rescinded a guidance targeting emergency abortions.
His decision will threaten the lives of pregnant patients.

President Trump’s recissions package is needlessly cruel and evil.
He is stealing $9.4 billion – money that has already been designated by Congress – from Sesame Street to Main Street, hurting everyday Americans to give tax breaks to the well-off and well-connected.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
