ICYMI: The crushing blow to the Voting Rights Act undermines decades of progress toward fair representation and voting rights protections. Every American deserves an equal say in our democracy.
This National Police Week, we honor the officers who work every day to keep our communities safe. We remember those we’ve lost in the line of duty and thank law enforcement families alongside them.
Last week, I met with my Agricultural Advisory Council at the NCERC in Edwardsville to listen to our farmers and discuss my efforts to strengthen the Farm Bill, lower the cost of fertilizer, and give farmers the tools they need to keep feeding our communities.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures across IL-13 who keep our families and communities strong. Thank you for the countless ways you lead with love and care.
Every year the Congressional Art Competition comes around, I’m more and more impressed by the talent we have in our district. This year, I’m excited to announce our winner, Urbana's very own Charlotte Lin, from University Laboratory High School, for her piece “Liminal." 🎨
Yesterday I convened my Agriculture Advisory Council at the NCERC in Edwardsville! 🌽 We discussed opportunities to strengthen the Farm Bill, my work to bring down fertilizer prices, and the policies we need in Washington to help farmers weather this year of uncertainty.
I met with the new Executive Director of Downtown Springfield, Inc. and My Heart is Downtown to talk about our shared vision for the future of the area. We discussed efforts to bring in more businesses, attract more people, and build a downtown that our whole community can be proud of.
Health care decisions should be made between patients and their doctors, NOT judges and politicians. Mifepristone has been FDA approved for 25+ years. Today I join Congressional Reproductive Freedom Caucus as we take the fight to SCOTUS for access to this safe, effective health care.
Mail service in communities from Champaign to the Metro East is failing — and residents deserve better. I'm proud to support legislation that would establish real oversight, accountability, and reforms to improve delivery standards for the communities that need it most.
Just wrapped up a powerful conversation with immigration advocacy groups. We heard stories from people who have been impacted and talked about how our community can coordinate to protect our immigrant neighbors. I’m going to keep fighting to demand reform & accountability with ICE and CBP.
FEMA, TSA, and Coast Guard — your paychecks are finally coming. To every worker who kept showing up — protecting our skies, our waters, and responding to disasters without missing a beat — thank you. Your dedication will never go unnoticed.
Gas prices just hit a record $4.39 per gallon. Instead of passing year-round E15 to give Americans much needed relief – Republicans skipped town. We need E15, now more than ever.
BREAKING NEWS 🚨The Senate just passed a resolution banning sitting Senators, officers, and staff from wagering on prediction markets. I'm demanding that Speaker Mike Johnson take up my bill, the PREDICT Act, and do the same in the House.
For months, Democrats made a simple demand – fund FEMA, TSA and Coast Guard without more money for ICE and CBP. Today that pressure finally worked. To the dedicated public servants who have been working without pay – thank you. You will finally be getting the paycheck you deserve.
I never want to vote against a Farm Bill. But this one failed our farmers — gutting conservation funding, ignoring devastating SNAP cuts, and missing critical investments in rural economies. Farmers in Central and Southern IL deserve better than this.
ICYMI: On Friday, I joined the Village of Brooklyn to celebrate securing $2 million in federal funding to help transform the community. One of America’s oldest and most historic Black towns, Brooklyn’s legacy is worth preserving—and this investment helps ensure it not only survives, but thrives.
