Make no mistake: Republicans are in power, and with that power comes the responsibility of fixing the health care crisis they created. It’s past time that my Republican colleagues come to the negotiation table instead of running away from it.
He can find $40 billion to bail out Argentina and $300 million for a ballroom to entertain his billionaire friends and donors, but he won’t use emergency funds to keep Americans from going hungry? That’s not America First – that’s Trump First!
Trump and Congressional Republicans already slashed $186 billion from SNAP in their Big Ugly Bill – the largest cut to food assistance in our nation’s history. Now, Trump has the money and the power to keep SNAP funded through November. He’s just making the cruel choice not to.
That’s why I’m continuing to push for a bipartisan agreement to reopen the government and extend the enhanced premium tax credits to protect affordable health care and ensure every veteran and hardworking American can get the care they need, when they need it.
