“For every federal job that’s gone, about one-and-a-half jobs could be lost from other economic sectors.”
The president’s assault on federal workers is not only harming critical services, but it also threatens to undermine local economies as well.

Families in Missouri saw their overall costs increase by more than $1,400 last year due to the president’s tariff taxes and regressive economic policies.
I’ll keep fighting to lower costs by extending ACA tax credits and opposing reckless tariffs.
In the US, a family should be able to drive home from a youth basketball game without having their six-month-old hospitalized because ICE assaulted their vehicle with tear gas & stun grenades.
If Republicans were willing, Congress could put an end to these horrors.

“foreign exporters absorbed only about 4% of the burden of last year’s U.S. tariff increases by lowering their prices, while American consumers and importers absorbed 96%.”
The president said he would lower costs.
Instead, he's driving up prices on American consumers and small businesses.
By analyzing $4 trillion of shipments between January 2024 and November 2025, researchers found that foreign exporters absorbed only about 4% of the burden of last year’s U.S. tariff increases by lowering their prices, while American consumers and importers absorbed 96%.

It is extraordinarily disturbing that Elon Musk and X are allowing users to post non-consensual sexualized AI images on their platform.
It is beyond disgraceful—it’s dangerous.
If they will not take action to stop it, then Congress must.

Housing — especially that which receives government support — is expected to meet standards that protect residents’ health and safety.
What I saw at Bowen Tower did not meet those standards.
It needs to be addressed immediately.

By taking time to serve our neighbors most in need, we keep the spirit and legacy of Dr. King alive.
Thankful to everyone who joined us for the Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service event yesterday.

Today, we honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
As we celebrate his enduring legacy, let us also recommit ourselves to carrying on his fight for justice and equality for all people.
Tenants pay their hard-earned dollars on rent every single month, and they deserve safe, dignified homes in return.
Sadly, what I witnessed at Bowen Tower did not meet the bare minimum standard that every tenant has a right to expect.
These issues should be addressed immediately.
Today, I toured Bowen Tower with current tenants.
What I saw and heard was unacceptable: dangerous mold levels, no heat, broken stoves, bed bugs, repeated flooding, and undrinkable water.
President Trump promised that his enactment of the largest tax hike on American consumers and small businesses in decades would weaken China and lead to a manufacturing renaissance.
It’s having the opposite effect.
Thanks to the president’s shortsighted trade policies and reckless threats against our neighbor, he has tarnished our relationship with Canada and strengthened their trade ties with China.
And what do Americans get?
Higher prices on Canadian imports.

Kansas City has been clear: we do not want a mega detention center in our community.
I call on my colleagues in the Homeland Security Committee and Oversight Committee to hold hearings on ICE’s actions and plans for expanded detention centers.

What would have been unthinkable a year ago is now necessary because of the administration’s reckless threats and disgraceful behavior toward our allies.
Thankful that a handful of Republicans remembered that the GOP historically has supported NATO and that part of U.S. power comes from our allies.
For years, I’ve supported legislation to ban lawmakers from trading stocks.
It’s long overdue for Congress to implement this commonsense step to ensure lawmakers are looking out for the best interests of their constituents—not their stock portfolios.
The president gets a private jet, a $300 million ballroom, and billions of dollars for his family businesses.
American families get two dolls, a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, a corn tortilla, and higher health care costs.
The president and his administration are intentionally sowing chaos and creating unnecessary conflict with our fellow citizens in Minnesota.
Invoking the Insurrection Act would only escalate the situation and endanger more Americans.
JUST IN: President Donald Trump warned he might invoke a centuries-old law to deploy US troops to Minnesota as state and federal officials clash over tactics used by immigration agents. https://cnn.it/4pIvdH0
Wherever ICE goes, chaos is sure to follow.
Kansas City is strongly opposed to opening a mega detention center in our community.
That funding would be better spent on support for local law enforcement and other public safety initiatives.

Senator Slotkin is a committed public servant who has spent decades defending our nation and strengthening our national security.
The administration’s attempt to intimidate her is disgraceful and disturbing.
I stand with @slotkin.senate.gov.
