“Why is Trump doing this?”
Midterm elections happen next year, and he’s worried that Republicans who voted to gut your healthcare to pay for tax breaks for millionaires with his “big, beautiful bill” will lose their races. So he wants to rig the next election via redistricting.

🚨 Donald Trump instructed Texas Republicans to engage in a power grab by re-drawing congressional districts in our state.
Now that they’ve published the heavily-gerrymandered map, I’ve heard from a lot of you over the last 24 hours so let’s break down your questions 🧵
instructing local ICE staff to deny me entry last month, despite my Congressional oversight authority.
So I'm suing.
Sorry all!! Alt text:
Under the Trump administration, the Department of Homeland Security has chosen to violate the law - which allows Members of Congress to make unannounced oversight visits to DHS facilities -
After I was denied entry to an ICE facility in my district, many of you said social media posts weren’t enough. You’re right.
Here’s what’s next.
Sixty years ago today, Medicaid and Medicare were signed into law.
Despite relentless attacks from my Republican colleagues, I will always protect and strengthen these essential health care programs millions of Americans rely on.

We’ve been through this redistricting battle before, and El Pasoans stood up to demand our community be represented by someone who lives here, not over 500 miles away.

Planned Parenthood provides critical healthcare for women on everything from mental health, testing, planning, and more.
This is a win for patients and a well-deserved blow to an administration hellbent on attacking healthcare.

Millions of Americans who work a minimum wage job should haven't to live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to survive. They deserve the dignity of a wage that helps them provide for themselves and their families.
Today marks 16 years since Congress last raised the federal minimum wage.
That's why I'm a proud supporter of the Raise the Wage Act, which would raise the minimum wage to $17/hr by 2030.
The VISIBLE Act is common-sense legislation to help ensure both officer and public safety.

Americans across the country have witnessed masked, armed, and unidentified individuals apprehending people, sometimes violently. Lack of any meaningful credentials by ICE agents has even inspired criminals to easily impersonate law enforcement in an effort to deceive their victims and the public.
Today, I, along with Representatives Gonzalez, Chu, Kamlager-Dove introduced the Visible Identification Standards for Immigration-Based Law Enforcement (VISIBLE) Act of 2025.
This bill would require immigration enforcement officers to display identification during public enforcement actions.

Thank you to the almost 10,000 El Pasoans who joined my tele-town hall last night!

Had to fix this headline for the New York Times
ICYMI: Speaker Johnson and Republicans wrote a toothless resolution on the Epstein files and now won't even bring *that* up for a vote so that they can give Donald Trump more time to distract the American people from his broken promises and secrets
Tariffs are a tax on consumers.
This latest round will increase costs on a product millions of Americans use every day and contradicts the empty promises by Trump and Republicans to lower your costs.
"Brazil needs to pay their fair share. These tariffs accomplish that."
Regardless of how you feel about the trade relationship we have with Brazil, these tariffs won't be paid out of pocket by the Brazilian farmers and corporations.
They'll be passed onto the consumers: us.
