Home-based care is not only the right thing to do, it is also more cost-effective than institutional care. These cuts are not about fiscal responsibility. They shift costs onto families, undermine access to care, and threaten the health and well-being of some of our most vulnerable neighbors.

More than 900,000 Californians depend on this program to stay out of nursing homes, and more than 500,000 caregivers help make that independence possible.
There is nothing wasteful about helping seniors and people with disabilities remain safely and independently in their own homes, yet the administration has cut more than $1 billion in Medicaid funding that supports that very care.
The Trump administration has repeatedly invoked “waste, fraud, and abuse” to justify cuts to programs that help people meet their basic needs. This latest attack on California’s In-Home Supportive Services program is no different.
Trump and his cronies have proven time and again that they care little about keeping our communities safe or making life more affordable for working families. Instead, they remain fixated on rewarding their political allies and enriching themselves at taxpayers’ expense.
This is a brazen abuse of power that once again demonstrates Trump’s contempt for our democracy, his disregard for the rule of law, and his willingness to put political loyalty above public interest.
And the abuse of power does not stop there. Trump’s Justice Department recently announced the creation of a $1.8 billion slush fund paid for with Americans’ tax dollars to benefit the president’s political allies, including violent Jan. 6 insurrectionists.
In the midst of a military conflict, Donald Trump sent Pete Hegseth to campaign against his political enemies. While rising gas prices continue to place an undue burden on everyday Americans, Sean Duffy is airing a reality TV show about his family’s road trip.
As communities come together in faith and fellowship, may this holiday also serve as a reminder of the values of compassion, generosity, and peace that unite us all.
Wishing a blessed Eid al-Adha to our Muslim friends and neighbors throughout #VenturaCounty and around the world. May this special occasion bring joy, reflection, and meaningful time with loved ones.
Today and every day, we remember those who gave everything for our country, and we recommit ourselves to honoring their legacy by upholding the values they fought to defend.
We honor not only their service, but also the families, loved ones, and communities forever changed by their loss. Their sacrifice is woven into the story of our nation, and their courage continues to inspire generations of Americans.
On Memorial Day, we come together as a nation to honor the brave servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country. We remember the fallen heroes who gave their lives to protect our democracy, defend our freedoms, and uphold the values that define our nation.
We must continue to stand together against hatred in all its forms and protect the values of compassion and humanity that define our communities.
No one should have to fear for their safety while practicing their faith or gathering with their community. The hateful rhetoric and extremism that fuel acts of violence like this cannot be ignored or tolerated.
I am also grateful for law enforcement’s swift response, which helped stop the suspects and protect the students, families, and community members who were learning and worshipping at the Islamic Center.
My prayers are with the victims, their loved ones, and every member of the community affected by this senseless tragedy.
My heart goes out to the Clairemont community following the deadly attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego. I am deeply saddened by the loss of life and the injuries suffered in this horrific act of violence.
Please remain alert, exercise caution, and follow all instructions from local officials.
