I was glad to meet Amahyree Wells, the #MD05 Black History Month Essay Contest 2025 winner. Amahyree's writing was engaging and reflective. I commend her ability to connect racial justice & economic fairness in her essay on the impact of Black Americans in the workforce. Congratulations, Amahyree!
This month we recognize 3 years since the nationwide launch of the #988Lifeline, which has provided life-saving support & care to over 16 million Americans in crisis. I will continue working to protect this vital resource & improve access to mental health & substance abuse services in MD & beyond.

When Donald Trump and House Republicans forced through their Big, Ugly Law, they claimed it would help American families. But gutting Medicaid is devastating to children, seniors and families. @elfreth.house.gov speaks out against the largest cut to health care in American history.
Today we mark 5 years without my friend & brother, John Lewis, amid an attack on the civil rights that he fought to secure and protect. This poster outside of my office is a reminder to remain committed to furthering John's mission to achieve equality & justice for all by getting into #GoodTrouble.
Great to meet with Ambassador of the EU to the United States Jovita Neliupšienė & discuss our shared values of freedom & democracy globally. I look forward to our work together to ensure Ukraine continues to receive the support it needs to win this war & to strengthen the U.S. and EU's partnership.

@repbillfoster.bsky.social sounds the alarm on Trump’s attacks on science, from slashing research funding to firing our nation's top scientists and engineers. House Democrats are fighting back to protect America’s scientific leadership and keep us moving forward—not backward.
Too many Marylanders are waiting too long for their tax returns. This lag comes after Trump fired thousands of federal employees who process those returns. Team Maryland and I call on the IRS to work more efficiently: hoyer.house.gov/media/press-... www.fastcompany.com/91316702/get...
Despite their academic & professional qualifications, Black women are consistently underpaid & undervalued in the workplace. On #BlackWomensEqualPayDay & every day I'm committed to supporting policies that address the racial & gender wage gap & reinforce pay equity laws to achieve equal pay for all.
Republicans' attack on Medicaid will cause hospitals nationwide to lose $24B annually, forcing thousands of hospitals – including many in Maryland – to cut critical services. Democrats will keep fighting against these cuts for all Americans to have reliable access to health care.
I am deeply saddened by the loss of life and devastation caused by the flooding in Texas.   I thank the first responders who are working to rescue and recover Texans. I share my condolences with the victims' families, and my prayers are with the communities impacted by the floods.
As I reflect on the recent attacks on key components of our democracy, I remain grateful to have the privilege of ensuring our nation honors the Constitution's founding principles of liberty and justice for all. Today and every day, I'm proud to be American. Happy Independence Day!

For 8+ hours, @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social spoke to keep Republicans from jamming Trump's One Big, Ugly Bill through in the dead of night—forcing them to cast their votes in the light of day. House Democrats’ commitment remains: We’ll keep pressing on for the American people, until victory is won.
Today, House Republicans passed abhorrent legislation that will make millions of Americans more poor, hungry, and unhealthy, all to give tax cuts to the already wealthy. The American people will remember this betrayal – and how each Member voted. What a sad day.
Trump's promises remain unfulfilled, yet he wants working Americans to pick up the tab for his Big, Ugly Bill's $3.4 trillion price tag. We cannot allow this partisan legislation to saddle future generations with trillions in debt and continue rattling confidence in our economy.
