Healthcare shouldn’t put families in impossible financial decisions.
Too many Americans skip needed care or face skyrocketing premiums because costs keep rising.
@HouseDemocrats.bsky.social and I are fighting to lower costs and expand access for everyone.

Wishing you a happy holiday season. My office will be closed from December 24 through 9 AM on January 5 so my staff and I can spend time with loved ones.

I am introducing the WELLS Act to combat racism in healthcare. We need more than laws on paper. We need healthcare providers that understand lived experiences and participate in ongoing training.
The WELLS Act will save lives.
Maternal health is more than one appointment. It is about a healthcare system that listens, respects women, and builds trust.
When doctors reflect the women they serve, the quality of care improves.
President Trump is increasing prices for groceries, rent, and gas while handing out tax breaks to billionaires.
We need an economy that works for everyone, not just for billionaires and Trump allies.
When rent, groceries, and gas cost more, why make student loans harder to pay? The Trump Administration is ending the SAVE plan that helped 7 million students pay off their loans.
This is going to push so many people into debt.

I hear from families every day who will pay more for their 2026 health insurance but will receive less coverage.
Higher premiums.
Higher deductibles.
No one should have to choose between paying bills and seeing a doctor.

Fifteen years ago today, President Obama repealed the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” discriminatory policy.
I carry the fight forward against homophobia and transphobia in the military as Trump attacks trans servicemembers.

Healthcare costs are too high.
Speaker Johnson had the opportunity to work with @housedemocrats.bsky.social last week to extend ACA tax credits, but instead, he went on a holiday vacation.
His failure puts families' health at risk now and for years to come.
Families are facing challenges to make ends meet.
Yet House Republicans keep focusing on what their billionaire donors want, not lowering the cost for the people they represent.
This isn’t right.
Need a last-minute Christmas gift? I encourage everyone to shop small and support the local businesses that keep our district strong.
Trump can call the affordability crisis “a hoax,” but the numbers don’t lie:
46% of Americans say the cost of living is worse.
55% of Americans blame Trump for high grocery prices.
Trump’s ignorance isn’t going to lower costs for families.

The United States has driven meaningful progress in reducing pediatric HIV/AIDS. But we have more work to do.
That’s why I introduced a resolution with @robinkelly.house.gov and @pocan.house.gov during HIV Awareness Month to reaffirm our commitment to ending pediatric HIV/AIDS.
I’m proud to reintroduce the bipartisan and bicameral NIH Clinical Trial Integrity Act with Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick and Senators Andy Kim and Susan Collins.
Black Americans have been underrepresented in clinical trials for far too long. The NIH Clinical Trial Integrity Act, which I am reintroducing, will improve diversity in our clinical trials so that our nation’s leading experts can produce more accurate treatments for everyone.
“This is the time to stand for what we know is right and not back down. A change has to happen now,” Mercedes Wells told Cheyanne Daniels .
I’m so proud of Mercedes for speaking out with conviction and courage. I’m fighting for her — and all Black women whose pain was ignored in Congress.
Every major medical group supports gender-affirming care. Congress should listen to healthcare experts, protect trans rights, and stop playing politics with children’s health.
I voted NO on this anti-trans bill.
No politician knows a child better than their parents and doctors.
But a Republican bill bans Medicaid coverage for gender-affirming healthcare.
The party of so-called small government needs to get out of the doctor’s room.
