As AANHPI Heritage month comes to a close, I'm committed to supporting the AANHPI community in LA & across the U.S. 🌸 It was great to sit down with local community leaders to discuss their issues like Medicaid, elder care, and immigration reforms, among others.
Elon was given unfettered access to top secret information while reportedly on a cocktail of drugs—and our nation is less safe for it. Our opposition forced him back into the shadows, but we must continue to shine sunlight on his corruption. 🧵(2/2)
Like I’ve said from the beginning: this sh*t is not legal. Trump doesn’t have the authority to levy these Temper Tariffs—Congress does. I proudly signed onto an amicus brief in this case. Every day @housedemocrats.bsky.social are fighting back & beating Trump in court—we’ll keep winning.
BREAKING: Judge Contreras has blocked Trump's tariffs as unlawful. This is a *separate* injunction by a federal judge in D.C., unrelated to the block issued yesterday by judges on the federal tr de court. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
A 4-year-old & her family came to the U.S. LEGALLY so she could receive lifesaving care. Trump revoked their legal status & is threatening deportation. This isn't just cruel—it's a death sentence. Proud to join @repluzrivas.bsky.social in demanding that Trump reinstate their legal status.
Over 1,000 incarcerated firefighters helped save LA earlier this year. We owe it to them to ensure fair labor standards & the ability to keep firefighting upon successful reentery to society. Yesterday, I proudly introduced the FIRE Act to do just that.
🌟From View Park to West Adams, my team was buzzing throughout CA-37 last week! We celebrated 20 years of the Garden School Foundation, informed St. Bernadette Church seniors about our constituent services, and joined the Pacific American Volunteer Association’s World Gala.
I’m deeply saddened by the passing of former Congressman Charles Rangel. A decorated Korean War veteran, he also led landmark legislation like the ACA, served as the first Black chair of @waysmeanscmte.bsky.social, and helped found the Congressional Black Caucus. He will be missed. Rest in power.
Reminder that there are still 10% Trump Temper Tariffs on every country—a 10% tax passed on to consumers. Now, Trump wants to raise that to 50% on Europe and 25% on iPhones. Republicans are making life more expensive, all while ripping away our heath care and vital services.
Five years ago, George Floyd was murdered, reigniting a movement whose calls for justice echo through today. We’re still fighting for meaningful reforms to policing and our justice system. In his memory, we must continue advocating for policies that keep our communities safe.
I took to the House Floor at 4:01AM ET this morning to oppose Republicans’ Big Backstabbing Bill. The bill passed the House under the cover of night—but the fight isn’t over. I won’t stop fighting to protect Medicaid, food assistance, and all of the programs that keep us afloat.
