Sixty years ago, the #VotingRightsAct secured the ballot for millions of Americans. Now, with the President attacking our fundamental right to vote, we must stay vigilant. We won’t turn back. We’ll honor our ancestors by defending and advancing the right to vote for all.
90 years ago, President Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act.
We must continue to defend this essential safety net that provides millions of people with security and dignity.

Texas Democrats, I stand with you.
Texas Republicans, led by Governor Abbott, are trying to rig congressional maps to silence Black and Brown voters. Now they’re threatening Democratic lawmakers with fines and arrest for standing up for fair representation. This dangerous power grab threatens the foundation of our democracy.

Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index rose 2.6 percent from a year ago. What does that mean? Prices are still going up! Groceries are up 20% since 2020. Rent? Up nearly 30%. But CEOs? Their pay went up 1,209% since 1978 Working families aren’t feeling relief: they’re feeling robbed!
For 60 years, Medicare and Medicaid have been lifelines for seniors, people with disabilities, children, new mothers, and low-income families. I will never stop fighting to protect and strengthen these programs, because health care is a right, not a privilege.
But that progress is under threat. Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress are pushing an extreme agenda that would rip health care away from over 15 million Americans, slash protections, and drive up costs just to give more tax breaks to the wealthy.
Today, over 140 million people rely on them. Nearly half of all births nationwide are covered by Medicaid, and Medicare supports more than 60 million seniors and people with disabilities.
60 years ago today, Medicare and Medicaid became law, transforming health care in America. Since then, these programs have provided generations of Americans with access to the care they need and the dignity they deserve.
Congressman Jonathan L. Jackson: “Our Conscience Demands Action” on Gaza Humanitarian Crisis
In 1919, Eugene Williams, a 17-year-old Black boy, was stoned and drowned for crossing an invisible color line at a Chicago beach. His murder sparked 7 days of terror...38 killed, 500+ injured, 1,000 Black families left homeless.
Today, we remember them...

President Trump and world leaders must act now to stop Prime Minister Netanyahu from using food and medicine as weapons.
What’s happening in Gaza is a humanitarian crisis that does not reflect our values.
Netanyahu’s war crimes must be stopped.

Unlocking the Development Potential of Diaspora Communities and Helping Reduce Reliance on Foreign Aid
This week I had the honor of meeting with H.E. Robert Dussey, Foreign Minister of the Togolese Republic, to discuss regional security, bilateral cooperation, and Togo’s diplomatic efforts to advance peace and stability across West and Central Africa.
State Farm’s 27% rate hike is outrageous and unfair to Illinois families. Hardworking people shouldn’t pay more because of corporate greed or disasters in other states. I fully support @GovPritzker—Illinoisans need transparency, accountability, and real consumer protection. Enough!
Six months into Trump’s second term, the assault on DEI is in full swing. This is anti-Blackness on steroids. It’s wholesale policy violence.
I'm proud to join @reppressley.bsky.social’s fight to #DefendDEI and help ensure everyone in America can thrive.
