In Chicagoland, flooding imposes a massive financial burden on homeowners—even a few inches of water can be dangerous.
I'm introducing the Flood Mapping Modernization & Homeowner Empowerment Pilot Program Act with @durbin.senate.gov and @duckworth.senate.gov to help communities prepare for floods.

Joe Biden has been out of office for nearly a year and a half and the Trump administration is still blaming him, rather than taking responsibility for our current issues.
The housing crisis still exists. The economy is even worse. But they refuse to work with Democrats to get things done.
That's why the Trump Administration wants to eliminate HOPWA, which provides housing for people with HIV and AIDS.
HOPWA has had bipartisan support for 30 years, and it's not going to stop now.
Trump's HUD Secretary said Americans should get "equal rights, not extra rights." We all know Trump and Turner think anti-discrimination laws give LGBTQ+ people "extra rights."
Last week, I got to visit Friedman Place, a residential center for blind and visually impaired adults, for their annual Open House and Art Show!
It’s extraordinary to see the talent in our community.
I cross-examined Trump’s Housing Secretary Scott Turner on how the administration is cutting funding that helps people who are homeless — all while discriminating against LGBTQ+ Americans and people of color.
Take a look here.

It’s undeniable that the climate crisis is bringing more severe flooding to Illinois. I joined @duckworth.senate.gov and @quigley.house.gov to introduce the Flood Mapping Modernization and Homeowner Empowerment Pilot Program Act to support urban communities and governments preparing for flood risks.
All the files have to be released. All the names must be unredacted. The public deserves to know the truth.
Trump’s Department of Justice has still refused to follow the Epstein Files Transparency Law. Instead of protecting survivors, they left their names in the few files they released—all while redacting Epstein’s email buddies' names.
I also want to acknowledge CPD Officer Aréanah Preston, who was killed in the line of duty a few years ago. I recently had the privilege of attending her memorial service and meeting her loved ones.
I also want to take a moment to honor CPD Officer John Bartholomew, who was recently killed at Swedish Hospital in my district. My heart goes out to his family, and I wish his partner, Officer Nelson Crespo, an easy recovery as he fights in the ICU.
It's National Police Week!🚔 This week, we honor the bravery and dedication of our law enforcement. Today, I'll be proud to vote yes on House Resolution 1252, which will make National #Police Week official for years to come and honor officers killed in the line of the duty.
Looks like a cute show—if it didn’t feature a government official vacationing, funded by the firms he’s in charge of regulating, while gas prices soared and TSA agents missed paychecks.
Out of touch doesn’t begin to cover it.
It’s National Police Week, and Republicans in DC have shown how little they care about Capitol Police.
These racist remarks are reprehensible.
Rep. Kiggans should resign. If she refuses, Speaker Johnson should censure her and strip her of her committee assignments immediately. @audacyinc.bsky.social should also pull Rich Herrera off the air.
May is also Older Americans Month! I'm so thankful for our senior citizens and the experience, wisdom, and strength they contribute to our country.
This River Day, I enjoyed cleaning up the Chicago River with Friends of the Chicago River! Together, we can help make the Chicago River cleaner and healthier for the next generation.
Happy Small Business Week! I've enjoyed learning so much about our small business community over the years.
Please join me in shopping small this week, and every week🛍️ #shopsmall
I’m so thankful for this community and Cubs Charities’ investment in our kids future. I also want to thank Miguel Amaya, Moises Ballesteros, and Matthew Boyd for stopping by during their busy season⚾️📚
Go, Cubs, go!!!
